The XFL is back!

in #xfl7 years ago

As was recently reported, Vince McMahon sold $100 million worth of WWE stock and launched his own separate new entity: Alpha Entertainment. Today, @alphaentllc has tweeted that Vince McMahon will make a major sports announcement streaming live at 3pm today.

Many outlets are reporting (CBS: https://www.cbssports.com/wwe/news/this-is-the-xfl-again-controversial-football-league-set-to-return-in-2020/) that the announcement is indeed the return of the XFL. Reports indicate the new XFL will begin play in 2020 to give Vince and Co. time to find players, coaches, etc.

This is a major announcement that will receive tremendous media coverage. Whether this new XFL ultimately is successful remains to be seen, but it is a story that is going to be closely watched and heavily reported until play begins. The time is absolutely right for both a league to rival the NFL or to act as a sort of minor league system.

With NFL ratings dipping this year, the XFL could have great opportunity marketing itself as a tough, violent league, like the NFL once was. Whatever happens, my fingers are crossed that we see a team led by Johnny Manziel and another team led by Tim Tebow in 2020!

it will be indeed interesting to see the xfl come back, its time nfl had a rival.
