Over the last few years , many nations around the world has made considerable progress in addressing the violence and abuse many women experience at the hands of strangers .Despite this progress, threats to women’s safety continue to profoundly affect their overall well- being.

Although contextual factors such as poverty status and racial/ethnic background correlate with the prevalence of victimization, no one remains immune . Violence and abuse affect women and girls from all walks of life.
