WWE HISTORY

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has a long and storied history dating back to the 1950s. The company was founded by Jess McMahon and Toots Mondt in 1952 as the Capitol Wrestling Corporation. At the time, professional wrestling was a regional industry, with promotions operating in different parts of the country.

In the 1960s, WWE (then known as the World Wide Wrestling Federation) began to expand its reach beyond the Northeast United States, and established itself as a national promotion. This expansion was aided in large part by the success of WWE's flagship television show, "Monday Night Raw," which debuted in 1993 and became a mainstay of the company's programming.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, WWE (then known as the World Wrestling Federation) experienced tremendous growth and became a mainstream cultural phenomenon. This period was characterized by the emergence of larger-than-life wrestlers such as Hulk Hogan and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, as well as the development of the "Attitude Era," which saw a more edgy and adult-oriented approach to wrestling storytelling.

In 2002, WWE was renamed to its current name and has continued to evolve and grow in the years since. Today, WWE is a global entertainment company with a highly successful live event and television programming business, as well as a thriving merchandise division and a significant presence in digital media. Despite facing competition from other wrestling promotions over the years, WWE has remained the dominant force in the industry and continues to attract a dedicated and passionate fan base around the world.
