Great read, and full of little details that make it seem authentic. Very well done. Do you have personal experience with a man like this? A relative? It feels like you're drawing from reality.
thank you @negativer! I suppose there are some slight mirrors to reality here, most significantly, I lost a friend to Brain Cancer last year. He didn't get to go at a time and place of his choosing. He was far too young.
