ARTISTIC SKATING ON ICE
The short, or technical, program lasts 2 minutes 40 seconds and requires eight technical elements connected with steps. He or she chooses the musical accompaniment, the order in which he makes the figures and how he links them, but he can not make any that is not established beforehand.
The long program lasts 4 minutes for women and 4 minutes 30 seconds for men. The technique, originality and harmony of the movements with the music is evaluated.
Pair skating includes a short program with compulsory elements and a long program. Its duration can not exceed 4 minutes 30 seconds.
!! // Dance, it is similar to classical ballet, but on ice. It consists of three parts, a mandatory has to perform two pre-set dances, can not exceed 1 minute and 30 seconds.
In the original part the couple chooses music and steps. It can last up to 3 minutes.
The free program has fewer restrictions, except that skaters should not introduce too many moves apart from each other, they can not be separated more than five times. There can be no elevations, a skate of each member of the pair must always be in contact with the ice. There is freedom of musical choice. The duration can not exceed 4 minutes and 10 seconds.
