Sinking into the cracks... deep, jagged... too many to count.
The overcast sky outside said it was ok to feel this way... in its dark grey clouds and rumblings...
The phone purred its complaints restlessly on the bedside table.
Incessantly.
"Are we hiking tomorrow?"
The undertones raged through my subconscious... only days before it had been .... "I want someone LIKE you... just not you."
The sting had been lingering and seething through everything it could... soaking up any positives and turning them black and heavy with loathing.
The tough shell ...was shattered.
"No."
