Philadelphia Experiment

A disappearance that was not only undetectable to the eye but also undetectable to the radar.

What is popularly known as the Philadelphia Experiment, alludes to an alleged dark program of the US Navy called Project Rainbow. The urban legend says that the military were testing a generator of electromagnetic fields with which they tried to find practical applications to the unified field theory proposed by Albert Einstein. Said in one sentence: they intended to achieve invisibility.

The equipment was readjusted and on October 28 the second test took place. This time, the entire ship disappeared completely and appeared at the naval base in Norfolk, 600 kilometers away and 15 minutes in the past.

With the technical and scientific help of characters of the stature of Albert Einstein and Nikola Tesla among others, the ship was equipped with electronic and magnetic devices capable of generating an energy field in its structure and making it visually invisible trying to apply the unified field theory of the own Albert Einstein.

The "lightning" spoken of in the urban legend about the Philadelphia experiment can be something as simple as the discharge of ionized plasma known for some time as San Telmo fire.

As for the mysterious disappearance of the USS Elridge, Dudgeon explains that the origin of that part of the urban legend is due to an incident at the Norfolk base. Elridge went to the base to get supplies, but soon he released moorings and returned to Philadelphia, where he arrived in less than six hours. According to the navigation charts of the area, this crossing was impossible because it was necessary to take a long detour to avoid German submarines and minefields. In fact, the ship used the Chesapeake & Delaware channel, which allows the detour to the peninsula to be skipped.
