Telling Tales

No... I don't mean running to your mom or a teacher to 'grass', 'squeal' or tell on another kid.

I mean telling tales - stories for amusement or advisement (thanks @meesterboom) morals fables and old wives tales if you will.

On this platform, there are all sorts of 'storytellers' - even those that aren't making-up 'stories', those re-telling news, sharing articles they find interesting, even financial advice (whether or not you take it).

We have authors, writers, curators, readers and reviewers and without even one of those (pick one...) the whole structure crumbles and eventually fails.

That's why we need to cherish each and every one.

The other day, I saw one writer (Blogger, Steemian) lay into one of the early-early adopters on this platform. The blogger criticised someone for posting a lot when Steem was high and then slowing-down the content output when it wasn't so high.

The blogger then went on to say how worried he was because his delegation runs out soon. Well, I can tell you something for nothing... the blogger that was criticised isn't likely to be among those delegating to you in future. And it's unlikely that friends and followers of that early-early adopter will, either.

It's a ripple-effect. If you bad-mouth someone, word will eventually get back to your sponsor and they may not like how you conduct yourself. Be careful.

New travels fast and it travels faster if it's bad.

The proverbs of old can still give great advice even today.

A stitch in time, saves nine - mend that little hole before it gets bigger and needs a patch.

People in Glass Houses shouldn't throw stones - before you criticise someone, be certain you're not opening yourself up for criticism of a similar kind.

Don't bite the hand that feeds you - pretty obvious (as they all are if you think about them).

A house divided against itself cannot stand - in-fighting and squabbling can turn to all-out war and if that's in the confines of one 'house' or community, it will end badly.

I like this platform. I don't write a lot on here, but I do like reading those in the little community I've become a part of and I feel protective of my 'friends' even if I've not met them.

Have a good day today and a better one tomorrow.
