'Salinger', A Documentary On The Life Of J.D. Salinger, Author Of 'The Cather In The Rye'

Hey, there! Today I would like to write a couple of lines on the trailer for a documentary on the life of a great American author, more specifically the novelist J.D. Salinger who had, most notably, penned the cult classic 'A Cather In The Rye'.

Simply titled 'Salinger', this 2013 documentary film by Shane Salerno goes to document the life and work of J.D. Salinger, featuring thoughtful interviews ranging from persons close to the American author but also historians and various journalists. The documentary also emphasizes the reclusive habits of J.D. Salinger after his hit novel 'A Cather In The Rye' was published.

J.D. Salinger was born on January 1, 1919 in Manhattan, New York. In 1942, he was drafted into the U.S. army and sent to war in Europe. Throughout the years he spent in Europe during World War II, Salinger occasionally met with fellow American writer Ernest Hemingway who was at the time working as a war correspondent in Paris, France. The second World War would also mark Salinger with enormous traumas for the rest of his life.

After the end of the conflagration, Salinger returned to the U.S. and resumed work on a draft of a novel he had been writing during the 1940s that was already centered around future iconic character Holden Caulfield. On 16 July, 1951 'The Catcher in the Rye' saw the light of print.

However, after the immense success of the novel, Salinger decided to withdraw from public life and the associated limelight produced by a writer's fame. The trailer of documentary below investigates Salinger's reasons for living as a recluse for more than a half a century.
