Sophia's Flute

She sits by the big mahogany tree every morning. With her fingers wrapped around her flute, she blows air into it and produces the best song you could ever listen to, following every chirp from the birds around her. She’s an orphan with no one to turn to. Homeless she is with no home to sleep in. The only family she has is her flute; given to her by a rickety old woman she’s never met.
Her flute has been her life. Her food when she’s hungry. Her source of comfort when she’s depressed. The only one who knew how she felt every day. The love of her life.
This morning a man walks up to her. Wiith a weird smile, he offers to give her whatever she wants. Persuasive he is as he tells her all the things he would do for her; an escape from hunger, a nice bed to sleep on every night. All in exchange for her flute.
“Why my flute”?, she thinks
“What does he want to do with it”?
“Will I ever see my flute again”, she wonders
With a deep breath she declines the offer.
“Not my flute”.
“Not my precious flute”!
