On 14th of April, 2014, a well known terrorist group (Boko Haram) attacked a government secondary boarding school in Chibok, Borno state Nigeria where good number of promising Girls were abducted while sitting for an exam.
Due to recent attacks in the state and neighbouring states many schools in the region had shut down. Boko Haram were targeting them because of their opposition to western education which the terrorist believes corrupt the values of Islamic religion.
The gunmen arrived in the town late at night in a blaze of gunfire and headed to the school were they raided the dormitories and loaded 276 girls on to lorries.
Some of the students escaped within hours of their abduction mostly by jumping from the lorries and running off into the bush. In total 219 girls were taken away.
Lately in may 2016, we heard that some if this adopted girls were freed, while not less than 100 student are still held captive.
Having accepted the last abduction (Chibok girls) as fate and spit in the face of our security system, it was unfortunate, shocking and painful to hear about the recent abduction of another 110 students of the Government girls science and technical college in dapchi yobe state on Feb 19, 2018 where these good number of young and promising girls were adopted .
The big questions is:

  1. Is there saboteurs in our security system?
  2. Are these abduction politically sponsored ?
  3. Why only adoption of girls?
  4. Are our leaders feeling the same pain as the guardians of these adopted children?
  5. what measure can government take to curb this adoption ?
