What are your aspirations: What did you want to grow up to be?steemCreated with Sketch.

in #writing9 years ago

When I was growing up, I wanted to be an astronaut, the unimaginable adventures that must wait in the unexplored could only be something fascinating.

What about you? Did you want to be a doctor, or maybe a lawyer, possible a policeman or a fireman? I remember thinking to myself that it would be fun to drive around a police car and shoot guns. Little did I know about tickets and danger at that point.

What are you aspirations?

Where do you fit in this world? What do you aspire to be? What kind of things to you want to do later on in life? Some people want to travel the world, while others want to stay at home and raise a family. Some even want to travel with their families, and live outside. I remember my family wanted to travel and we did a lot, we even wanted to live in the Jungles of Papua New Guinea at one point.

How has your aspirations changed, and why have they changed?

As we mature in age and wisdom, we find many things that teach us lessons and give us wisdom. May they be troubles and trials or surplus and fortune each experience in life we have something to learn from. Yes, even here on Steemit.

I tend to find the more I pay attention to situations the more I understand, the more I learn.

The learning, is in the details. So many people in this day and age look at something for face value and they miss the true value of it and with that they miss wisdom, understanding, and experience. I could almost bet the people who come to steemit and expect to make a lot of money are also the ones who leaving after a few months of plinking around.

A lot of people, want what they want, and they want it now.

Maybe this is also why I am not a astronaut, or at least one of the many reasons. It takes time to find something worth working towards, and it takes time setting goals, and guidelines to get there. Someone doesn't plant a seed and then go out the next day to pick its fruit. So it is the same with life, goals, aspirations, and dreams. You have to set your sight on something, understand the details and then put your plans into action to accomplish your dream.

Sometimes in life actions don't go according to plan.

There are many outside variables in life that will ruin plans, detour plans, or slow plans down, of course there is the opposite as well but what would be a good idea in such events? A back up plan. Back up plans are things that you have to either, help reach your goal when the original plan won't work, or even something extreme like a whole new plan.

In life, we make decisions those decisions lead us down all kinds of different paths.

Be careful my friends, of the decisions and paths you make. Yes also be careful to not be to cautious, for that would spoil the fun.

Take care my fellow Steemians, have a wonderful day,

Excellent post, @timbo! Thank you!
I always wanted to make my career in a famous international company, earn huge amounts of money and spend it in desirable status symbols. That was my 'lifetime dream'.

Some years and a lot of experiences (including one burnout) later, I did a 360 turn. I sold everything, left my home country and packed my bags in order to live close to the beach, have 365 days of sun / year, go surfing (almost) every day and live a healthy, active and relaxed life. Current number of possessed status symbols: ________ But I´ve never felt richer than I am right now :)

Again, thanks for your post. Very inspiring!

Thank you very much surfermarly! Your words are very encouraging and humbling. I actually just made about the same move, I am moving to California to be closer to the beach and sun! Funny you have a similar story. I still have a good job and that will take most of my time but I will be sure to visit the beach often.

Thank you for the support and reply!

I always wanted to travel back in time and prevent deaths of great people from accidents, diseases or duals. Good Post!

When I was 7, I wanted to be Doctor Doom, or a herpetologist. When I was 13, I wanted to be a theoretical physicist. This lasted until I got to that, for pay, marxist indoctrination center, called university. It was after that, I decided the only thing I really wanted to be is free.
