LOW SELF-ESTEEM

Low self-esteem is a depressing feelings of little self-worth or importance. Generally people with low self-esteem have a negative overall opinion of themselves,as they judge or evaluate themselves negatively or place a generally negative value to themselves as a person.
Low self-esteem is reflected in the way the person thinks and behaves, including their mood and physical state. Persons struggling with self esteem issues are usually very critical about themselves: and their behavior may include a slouched posture, minimal eye contact and speaking in a soft tone. They usually feel shy, anxious, or sad and their body may be very tense.
According to psychotherapists, a feeling of low self-esteem is often a consequence of some negative childhood experience, an inferiority complex or some difficult life circumstances and sometimes it can be an aspect of another problem such as depression.
However, self esteem is not the same as self confidence; as someone with high self confidence about his or her abilities may still suffer low self-esteem.
For example, at work, a person with low self-esteem would persistently strive for perfectionism, colleagues approval or simply avoid seeking promotion for fear of failure.
In Relationships, a low self-esteem person is likely to be overly sensitive to criticism or disapproval and may be very self-conscious. They don't express themselves openly and may always seek to please others no matter the cost to themselves. And because they worry that if people see the real person behind the face, they don't like them therefore may put on a false front.
Low esteem also has a huge impact on the looks or physical appearance of the sufferer. A person with low self-esteem may not take proper care of themselves because they don't think they deserve it.
In contrast, they may also spend hours making themselves looks as perfect as possible to others. At leisure or outdoor events, they would attempt to avoid activities in which they think they may be judged and they may not allow themselves time to relax because they feel undeserving.
To effectively deal with self esteem issues you will need to focus on the following :

  • Focus on your strength and use them
  • Be true to yourself and don't try to be like someone else. Recognise that you are unique and cannot be someone else.
  • Take life and yourself less seriously
  • Focus on your needs and desires Because of will increase your self worth, confidence and assuredness.
  • Work at achieving your goals and do your best at everything you try. It will trigger a positive feelings for u.

Brilliant post this. We must endeavour to build our self esteem. If it is low we are reluctant to do the things we need to do. We mostly zone out of important things due to our low self esteem.

one of the few things i avoid is low self esteem. Thats why i try to take the best of cut and do all necessary, using the best of spray and all so my self esteem would be intact
