Fight Anxiety With Moments

Here's some real talk.

Anxiety didn't used to be a thing, a word, a problem, a debilitating monster. Being anxious was just a feeling - a little bit of uneasiness. Now anxiety has a whole new meaning - it is an all encompassing state of mind and it is vicious and unforgiving. In 2017, anxiety is rampant.

Believe me, I live with this monster and most of the time we learn to get along but sometimes we don't. Sometimes anxiety is pushy. Sometimes anxiety is a bully. It sees a perfectly lovely situation and decides to sprinkle it with doubt.

Oh - you're in a perfectly delightful relationship with someone who is compassionate and kind? You're fine with that? Good. But what if .. what if ..

It's all about the What Ifs when it comes to anxiety.

The trick is to silence those What Ifs - if only for a few minutes. That's the only way you'll get by. Go head to head with those warped realities and balance them with truths and facts.

Keep yourself afloat a few minutes at a time and you'll be pleasantly surprised. Accept that it never really goes away, take it one moment and a time, and surround yourself with people who accept you as you are.

Anxiety is a beautiful flaw and you can learn to co-exist with it. But it does take practice.
