Lady's bedstraw (Ivanjsko cveće)

These days i often see on roadside is Lady's bedstraw. It's really noticeable because there is a lot of these flowers, seeds has spread everywhere. I love it because it stands out from all greenery. It has beautiful smell, like you smelling honey or some flower scented perfume. I always love to gather these flowers and put them into vase on my kitchen table. It looks like part of nature is in our house. It pretty healthy flower and it is good for stomach.

We are calling it "Ivanjsko cveće" (Ivan's flowers) and on Latin is called "Galium Verum". Serbs are praise Saint Jovan Preteče - Ivanjdan which is on July 7. Day before Ivanjdan we are collecting these flowers and knitting it into wreath and place it on our gates. We are doing it because it will give us health for our family and protect us from negative energy. Morning looks beautiful when you are going with your bike to the store and see that all gates in village is decorated with wreaths with all kind of different decorations. I don't know how others do this but this is how we do for a long time , years and years ago. I really recommend you if you find this flower to bring it into your home, for your health and you will have feeling that nature is in your house.
