Fantasy sports trending in India from the last couple of years. The companies which are operating these platform became exactly doubled in 2017. Initially, 30 companies were in this industry and later it was observed that 30 more new companies have arrived in this sports industry. But if we look at the whole market shares, the only leading platform holds 90% users of fantasy sports India, Dream 11. The company started around 10 years ago and now is on rapid progress.

If we look at data, the number of users was 0.2 Million in 2016, became 20 million in 2017. This is really a huge exponential growth. This will have definitely given you astonishment but this is not enough. In 2018 after the Indian Premier League, the figure of fantasy sports users became doubled from 20 to 40 million. One of the core point behind this number of users hike was the advertisement. During IPL, advertisement of Dream 11 can be seen everywhere. I hope barely a television or Youtube viewer escape from these ads. Also, the brand Ambassador of Dream11 was MS Dhoni then why it will not be attractive for the viewers. Also, it is said that the figure of the user base in the USA and Canada is 60 million approx and if this kind of growth continued then India will surpass them easily. In a report also said that India can have 100 million people at the end of 2019.
By the CEO of Dream 11, their most of the new users invited by old users. Old users sharing and inviting friends and thus our platform is growing.
People were inclined more towards Fantasy than betting because betting is not legal in India whereas Fantasy is legal. Also In the supreme court, a case was filed against Fantasy sports but the decision went in favor of Fantasy companies.

If we look at the users' distribution according to geographical location, highest users coming from Northern India ,second place is hold by the West part then eastern and at last Southern part.
One of the most key points is in the report, approx 93% of users use their smartphone or tablet to play.
In this user hike, vital role played by cheap internet data. After the launch of new sim operator Jio, a revolution came in India. Jio launched in 2017. Cheaper data plans change the market of fantasy sports.
