When Will We Stop Destroying Ourselves?

What if the "creators" were playing a game that would only be "won" once the subjects never destroyed themselves. The game keeps evolving and playing out until the inhabitants decide to work together on (in this iteration) nuclear war, global warming, hunger, homelessness, disease, etc. It is possible that this game will never end. It is also possible that the only way to stave off this destruction is to go into the virtual world. But then it seems the game could or very probably would just start over again. Just a thought.
