Creation of A Sim- Aspirations, Traits, and Life Goals
Hello and welcome to my blog- How to Play the Sims. If you are new, you can visit my blog and catch up by reading my previous posts. Follow me @simgirl to receive my newest posts in your Steemit feed.
We are continuing the creation of Sally Steemit, whom we will be playing together as a community. I will be writing her story as we discuss how to play the Sims 4 game. This time we will be focusing on Sally’s aspirations. If you would like to be involved in the creation of Sally Steemit, please comment any specifications you would like to see, such as looks, personality, and ambitions. If you have been following along, you see that we have not committed to any of Sally’s physical features, traits, aspirations, or life goal.
Once you decide the basic characteristics of your Sim, you can decide what your Sim will do with their life. As the player, you will pick your Sim's aspiration. This is the focus of your Sim's life. Once you have chosen an aspiration, you can then choose the life goal that synchronizes with that aspiration.
Sims 4 has a list of aspirations for you to choose from. You can mouse over the aspirations to see how each aspiration will affect the Sim in their life.
Each aspiration will give the Sim a bonus trait that will affect the Sim’s actions, and natural instincts. For example, with the Athletic aspiration, the bonus trait is high metabolism. A Sim with high metabolism has an easier time staying fit and trim.
Here is a list of the other aspirations and the bonus traits that they provide the Sim.
Each of the Sims 4 expansions will add to your aspirations, and/or traits. The Location aspiration is from the City Life expansion. If you are a beginner Simmer, you may only have the aspirations of the Sims 4 basic game. Each time you purchase another expansion, you will add the new content to you Sims 4 game.
When you select an aspiration, you must then choose a life goal for your Sim. Each aspiration will give you a choice of a life goal that is associated with it. For example, The Fortune aspiration life goals are Fabulously Wealthy, and Manson Baron. Both life goals focus on fortune, or money, but one life goal is to get rich and have a successful career, while the other life goal is to own the biggest home.
Once you pick your Sims aspiration, and their life goal, you then open the option to select their personality traits. Personality traits will also decide how your Sim will act, and interact with objects and Sims in the game. Sims with similar traits can talk about common interests. Sims with opposing traits will not get along.
The traits you can choose for your Sim include emotional traits, hobbies, lifestyle traits, and social traits. Each of the traits you choose, will decide how your Sim will act, and what they will desire from their life.
Each of the options will give the Sim a certain trait. For example, the Creative trait will make your Sim more creative, they will have desires, actions, and instincts that will gravitate towards being creative. When you pick your Sim’s traits, try to line them up with your Sim’s aspirations and life goal.
If we decide that Sally Steemit will have the fortune aspiration, we may pick her traits to be materialistic, snob, and art lover, or make sure she is ambitious. This way she will be likely to have traits that will help her reach her life goal. These choices will also decide Sally Steemit’s desires, and personality. Once these traits are confirmed, you have the choice to either start the game with your new Sim, or add another Sim to the household.
In my next post, I will step back and explain the creation of the Sim’s physical body in more detail. The examples I have been using for Sally Steemit have been created by using the random option. But the player of Sims 4 can change every physical feature a Sim has, and that is pretty cool.
Be sure to leave your specifications for Sally Steemit in the comments. We will be creating her soon! Please reSteem this post to invite more readers into the fun! Be creative and mix and match different traits to enhance the drama, or create a perfectly dependable Sim.
I don’t want to influence your decision, but here is a trailer for the Dine Out expansion.
Happy Gaming- Sim Girl
Sally Steemit seems like the rich restauranteer type, although down to earth and quick with a joke or story.
That sounds good! Thank you!
