Structure or Flow Writing?

Today is the day. The day of sharing a unique idea in regards to writing. How can we better understand writing as a whole? Well, lets break down two concepts and understand them.

Structure and flow...

Structure is created for the order of ideas. It is the logical progression of your writing and should include similar ideas linked together. Structuring your work is a key aspect of good quality writing making sure that related portions of writing are linked together and that the ideas are congruent with the topic of story. Writing that is unstructured could be all over the map and it may have an illogical or confused points and lack a real direction.

Repetition of ideas or linking unique ideas together can often signify very little preparation or thought. When you just repeat yourself. This becomes an issue and is unstructured.

Flow

Flow is the force of your creativity. It is the creative flow. The inspiration. The ability to release your words like a fire hydrant with out any control. When you are bursting at the seams with content and need to release it all. That is flow. That is the power and ability to unleash a blog topic or screenplay. You let it all out. It is kind of like a word vomit. You spew out all the text and content.

When you are a writer or professional writer you must have both structure or flow. Everything in nature is structure and flow. Water? Is it structure or flow? It is with out a doubt flow. The structure could be rocks around it or the ocean's basin, or the oceans 3 layer structure. You get my drift no pun intended. No arguments about hydrology here.

Flow and structure are all over the place. It is also in your writing. When you write creatively you may have a crazy flow of words and the more you structure your story. Your business. Your life as a writer the better off you will be. Creativity is a flow, yet it needs structure. We need to "Sharpen our saw." That means improve, hone, fine-tune, and work on deficit areas. You are like a piano in the way that you can fine tune you and your writing work.

If you are all creative you will have a million ideas and have trouble putting them together.

If you are all structure you be rigid and the writing may become dry or dull. What is a writer to do?
Take an honest assessment if you can't find a writing coach.

Ask yourself? Do you need to work on structure of writing, or the creative flow of it? Be honest with yourself. The honesty yields a better writer within you.

Story is structure and it is also flow.
Grammar is structure.
