Do you have a notebook where you write important information?
One of the things I was doing a few years ago when I was spending hours and hours reading all kind of articles trying to develop myself and learn new skills was writing almost everything I was considering to be important on a notebook, in order to always have all that information available without having to go online and read it again.
The way I was doing it was pretty simple - I was reading an article or a chapter from a book, then I was writing the things that I considered to be really important on a notebook or agenda I had near me all the time. I did that for a few months just because I felt it was a good idea.
It's been a while since I stopped doing that and to be honest I never really checked that notebook to reread the information I wrote there - until a few weeks ago. I was trying to write a few articles for Steemit and I was running out of ideas. I wasn't sure what I wanted to write, so I grabbed that notebook hoping to get some ideas from the things I wrote a long time ago.
And it worked. All the information I saved in that notebook helped me get a lot of new ideas and gave me a lot of inspiration to write new articles for entire weeks. A few pages containing the things I considered to be important a while ago helped me come up with a lot of content today, years later.
This is something useful and easy that you can do as well. I am pretty sure most of you read articles or books all the time, either for fun or hoping to learn something new. One downside is that our brain tends to forget all kind of details, and we only remember a small part of what we read.
If you start reading an entire article and you find three ideas that you think are amazing, it's possible that you'll only remember one of them, or maybe two, but in most cases you will forget at least one.
That's why having a notebook where you write down everything you think is important when reading can help you remember everything you forget in time and also give you a lot of inspiration in the future when you'll run out of ideas.
Plus, it only takes a few minutes. If you read around two chapters a day from a book you have around, then you can spend around 5 to 10 minutes writing down the things you want to remember in the future and then resume to doing whatever you were doing before that.
Doing this for a few months can benefit you in the long run, especially if you're planning to do something that requires creativity and inspiration, like writing. Ten minutes a day writing a few ideas every time you read can help you come up with dozens of articles in the future if you know how to use the information you have.
So, starting today, every time you read something that you consider to be important or worth writing down, note that thing on a notebook or agenda you'll always have by your side, and make sure you save all the information you need or want there. The future you will thank you for that.
yeah, i'm fairly big on the notebooks. i've got a bunch from college still, not from school notes, but a bunch of things i read or learned outside of class. then i got notebooks of other stuff, things i wrote down watching educational shows, or from projects i was doing, hobbies i was involved in. my oldest son went to high school in a different state so i took notes of our talks every monday, so i could remember the details of his life week to week. i do notebooks (-:
That's impressive, I wish I started doing the same thing a long time ago but it didn't cross my mind and when I finally started taking notes I found it tiring and annoying at times, so I stopped. I guess I'll start writing on my notebook once again and note all the things I consider to be important. Thanks for the comment! :)
