RE: STACH Short Story Contest #20: Valentine Special- 199 words, a lovely prize pool, everyone wins!

in #writing6 years ago

Valentine's Day held no special meaning to me, it was just like every other ordinary day. I never really gave it much thought since I was always busy. I didn't have time to start falling and standing in love, to me this was a teenage thing. I was a go-getter, who wasn't going to allow trivial issues like love come between weighty issues like her banking career.
Ii dawned on her after a serious conversation with her father that she should keep a space for love, and what better time to do this than the Valentine's Day. She was going to hangout with friends, that was her first real Valentine.
As fate would have it, the regional manager asked her out on that Valentine's Day, who was she to turn him down. Going on a date with him was way better than hanging out with friends.
He made it special for her. She thought they'd go out to a restaurant or something but he took her home and cooked her the best fried rice she had ever tasted. She was impressed. After the meal, they saw a movie on Netflix and danced passionately to some Nigerian music.
