Summary is a brief and clear statement of fact of a particular text. It can also be defined as a consice, brief or presented in a condensed form. A summary must contain an essential or the main point. It must be brief , accurate precise and clear.
USES OF SUMMARY.
It helps us to state the basic knowledge we get from various sources a and communicate effectively with others.
Summary note are invaluable to students at latter days.
Summary is also a time saving device as it helps us quickly get only the main point from the text.
It helps us to eliminate irrelevances from a text.
It encourage thinking since we are to srare the issue only clearly.
RULES OF SUMMARY WRITTEN.
The first is for you to be able to deduce the main point in the text.
To state the main point precisely and briefly.
Finally, you have to refresh the text with your own words.
HOW TO SELECT ESSENTIAL POINT.
You must have a clear understanding of the text.
Make a careful study of the topic sentence of each paragraph because that is where you find essential ideas of the text.
Finally, you give a suitable title to the passage where non is provided.
TERMS ASSOCIATED WITH SUMMARY.
Clarity: This means that you must the point briefly.
Brievity: This means that you must state the point briefly.
Correctness: This means keeping to the original tone and lining of argument on the main text.
HOW TO RE-PHRASE THE TEXT.
By rewarding.
By getting all the main points effectively linked.
By prosaic presentation.
