Kala panni! - The cellular jail.

Andaman and Nicobar islands, a paradise on land. but still is known as kala panni! This has a vast history about its name. Many people in the world are unaware of certain facts which was proof of inhumanity of superior humans on inferior ones!

Talking about Andaman comes The famous cellular jail, which is a proof and symbol of brutality. Britishers used to cage up Indian prisoners there, before independent India. It was not just an ordinary jail but many extraordinarily horrible actions were made. As read and heard from certain past prisoners and their books after freedom. As said-

Usually prisoners were treated with fatal brutality, with it's architecture built in such a way that prisoners quarters were faced towards central round building which was manned by the soldiers. so, in a way escape was impossible and moreover the island surrounded by ocean gave a natural boundation too. 'The cells were of the worst type prevalent, there was no provision for lavatories; an earthen pot smeared with coal tar in a corner of the cell served the purpose.'
Prisoners were made to work hard and through out the day and were beaten badly on minor mistakes. many people died during protest against the system out there.

Only after 1935 reforms that a provincial self government was started which lead to shut this horrible jail and stop inhumanity in a certain ways. Hope so this kind of shameful inhumane act will never be performed by any human on other.
