The Dream Temple, part 2

Most Dream temples, also known as Sleep temples are regarded by some as an early instance of hypnosis over 4000 years ago, under the influence of Imhotep.

Imhotep served as a Chancellor and High Priest of the sun god Ra at Heliopolis. Dream temples were reputed to be a hospital of sorts, healing a variety of ailments, perhaps many of them psychological in nature. The treatment involved chanting, then placing the patient into a trance-like or hypnotic state, and analyzing their dreams in order to determine treatment. However, some temple's were taken over by a dark force and the High Priests were killed. The sculptures are now used as portals for the so-called dream demons to enter the real world. Where a Dream demon needed to be touched in the dream by his victim in the past, to be able to enter the human world, now the sculptures are strong enough to open a door for a dream demon to freely roam.

"Let us meet in dreamland honey?" Anna smiles at her husband taking him by his hand. Peter looks at the clock and nods seeing it's almost midnight. A new day will start bright and early, a new day at the same house he was today. "Yes my love, let's get some sleep, it's been a long day!" They share another kiss as she sighs, happily. "I'll see you there." He winks and pulls her closer, onto his broad chest and kisses her on her forehead before they walk outside the kitchen and almost run up the stairs like newlyweds.

The tall wooden clock in the living room seemingly comes to life. It has a ticking heartbeat, and the intricate gears breathe as they slide and entwine against each other in a mechanical, sensual dance. It loves to chime, celebrating with a chorus of bells and dramatic enumeration, calling out each hour of the day. Now, it sings the song of 3 AM. Darkness has taken over the mansion, the curtains all closed, Peter and Anna both in a deep sleep, holding each other in a tight embrace like they do every night.

Downstairs on the table, the sculpture starts to shake again, right before a brilliantly bright colored light shines from within the stone, bathing the entire kitchen for at least ten seconds. Curiously, the light disappears even faster than it came, leaving behind, a large dark creature lying on the kitchen floor. Red eyes scanning the room it's in, long thin bony fingers with extremely long black nails scraping over the kitchen floor, as it rises to its great seven-foot length. The temperature in the entire house changes immediately, from a comfortable cool to humid, tropical heat. The demon emits a foul stench, as well, that could only be best described as sulfur, mixed with rotten eggs and rancid meat, in nature. rotten meat as it wafts across the room, immediately.

The demon lets a soft but low growl roll over it's dark lips as it raises itself from the floor, standing its eight foot tall with a massive broad chest, long dark, wet, stringy hair wrapped in a pigtail and not a strand of skin covering it's flesh and muscles, looking exactly like a huge, scary anatomic model of a semi-human body you would sometimes find on a poster in a doctors office waiting room. Slowly and calculating, his eyes turn to the ceiling feeling the power of the dreams above him, ready for him to take over. Humans, to him, mean nothing, aside for his unquenchable thirst for accessing and feeding upon their dreams. In a flash of green light, his body disappears from the kitchen and reappears right into the bedroom of Peter and Anna. He uses his power to harness their dreams as they sleep, by lifting his hand and waving it over their bodies. No sound, no smell, nor vibrations shall wake them now until he wants them to awaken, if at all.

When I read about a dream, I imagined a horror success story that I had experienced, very frightening

I love such stories, and I liked your story. I am waiting for the continuation

could it be that the dream temple was an abandoned building

I read this like in an old story

I read the story of the temple of dreams, and liked this, I waited for the next dream temple

interesting and very perfect about this dream temple

If I talk about ghosts or demons, I get scared .. your story really depicts ghosts clearly ... I am really very afraid of ghosts ...

Great story so far. I like the aEgyptian God mythology worked into it. The demon sounds awful with his foul smell. Imagining its nails dragging across the floor gives me chills

I'm liking part two of the story. This demon sounds like an evil dude. He doesn't seem to value humans very much. He's going to take over the couples bodies. Noooo!!! Lol
