Hendrick Fisher, struggling single itinerant man, with piqued interest in voluntaryism and some motivation issues

Name: Hendrick Fisher, 35 male, lives in various places (homeless but calls himself a "voyager") in a truck with a camper top attached, has family that he never speaks to, owns a small dog named "Gmac". Tows a trailer for scrap collection, expert at metal processing. Upset that he's a millennial. Thinks Jesus is a scam.

Background: Failed at holding down good jobs since getting into the workforce as a teenager. Didn't feel like showing up to most of them. Wasn't even drug or mental illness related, just didn't feel like it. Somehow graduated highschool. No longer associates with family. Wasn't really his choice, they just figured it's best to forget he existed. Recently picked up a good working laptop with the scrap, kept it.

Goal: Someone gave him a pamphlet about voluntaryism at a truck stop so he's using his new laptop to further delve into the concept. Feels it's right for him and may be his calling. Considering the fact that he always felt he shouldn't have to do anything he doesn't want to at a given time. Originally thought it was a movement about doing nothing. Now he wants to learn more about it and somehow monetize this knowledge and the process thereof. Particularly since scrap prices suck.

This is the winning character concept from the competition.

Notes from the Games Moderator

Feel free to correct me on any of this, please do and don't hesitate.

Hendrick Fisher is a bit of a blank slate, following the typical "adventure" character pattern of weak ties to family and mostly self interested. It's interesting that he's expert in metal processing, I feel like this could be a strong defining skill that he has, on the positive side. On the negative it's clear that he is strongly free willed (not a bad thing but...) to the point of apparently not seeing the point in society perhaps, or at least for his involvement in it. Am I sensing a little entitlement also? If so it is supporting to his self determination, but also possibly could get in the way of realizing it. I seems like the world has yet to make sense to this guy, which is a great point to meet him at for the sake of a story.

Next step

@guiltyparties, can you refine the goal a little to be less about a _general interest) and a stronger, clearer specific goal? I think this would help people who start and dip into the narrative process with being able to image the desired end.

And congratulations! I know you won by default but I think this is good and would be a top idea in any case. 😎
