MY TRAVAILS AS AN EMPLOYEE- UNTOLD STORY OF WORKERS

A few years ago, I was still working with an IT firm that procures IT Solutions and services to Federal Government schools; I had a "jackass" as boss who said to me after working for him for over a year and some months, in his words “I am not sure you will make it in life”

That came out after an argument and I deeply expressed my thoughts on the way he treats the whole staff in terms of incentives, he got angry that I could be bold enough to confront irrespective of his wealth and position as the CEO, at his age (he was just a little above 30years then). Deep down inside me, I nullify those words as they come out of his mouth and told him I am definitely going to be successful in life, I quit working for him some months after the incident.

How could a mere subordinate, an employee talk to him like that? I heard him talking to someone on the fine, I smiled and was contemplating on leaving that shitty job right there. Back then I was a “Rodeo”, I basically live my life on the road risking my life as remote support specialist to the company even though I was employed as some as something else (A Business Development Associate) but ended up playing a couple of more roles just to be a multi-tasking employee of the year and be able to adapt and accommodate as the company evolve.

Several times I have had accident while on assignment for my company, so many times I have gone hungry because of lack of funds, not that my former company was broke but any employee on assignment become helpless in terms of lack of funds, reaching HQ for help (funds) will be like finding a needle in the haystack.

One time, I and a colleague were condemned spending almost three days on the road due to wicked ways and lackadaisical attitude of my boss, or prefer to say the unstable structure of the company. They spend millions to hyping and lying to the press and social media outlets on how the company treats the employees, how my boss lied about providing accommodations and clothing/wardrobe allowances to his staff. Most of his lies eventually came out from someone he had treated badly or schemed out of some deals.

CONVERGING

Sadly, this is just a tiny portion of several cases right here in this God-forsaken place, many don’t have the courage to walk away from such treatment because of fear of the unknown, only a few like me left without looking back from such a working environment and have my life changed compared to when and what it used to be then.

In the end, Karma catches up with people like my boss; several employers like him will get a dose of their wicked ways while a handful of them still live at large. But karma has its ways of doing things, learn from my story, be your own boss if it gives you rest and peace of mind even though the income is little!
