What is Harmony?
   Harmony is a blockchain based platform which uses shards on decentralized data storage method; to harmonize scalability and other features that should be available in every platforms that perform her operations on blockchain. Moreover, Harmony did not only improve blockchain by innovating decentralized data computation method, but with a unique feature named “power of stake” (PoS), Harmony is able to create an open consensus for over 10 billion people on blockchain. Therefore, this platform uses shards to provide solution to security issues, low transaction speed and other problems that are usually encountered by blockchain users, by creating multiple groups (shards) of validators and let them process transactions concurrently.

Therefore, Harmony uses a technique which makes her transaction speed 100 times faster than PBFT and the technique she uses is named byzantine fault tolerance (BFT).

• Cross shard consistency: although no shardng platform has the ability to perform cross shard transaction, but Harmony did not only ensure the availability of cross shard transaction, she also ensures cross shard consistency through the use of a unique mechanism named atomic locking.

• Multiple shading ability: through Harmony, projects will be able to form both beacon chain (an identity register derived from a randomness generator) and multiple shard chains. Therefore, projects built on Harmony can create as much as possible shard as their users increase.

What make harmony better than other sharding network?

• Cross-shard communication and routing optimization is one of the features embedded in Harmony’s ecosystem which other sharding networks did not possess. Hence, with the use of atomic locking mechanism, Harmony is able to possess a feature which other sharding networks are yet to possess.
• Though sharding is a technique used by numerous platforms including Harmony, however, Harmony possesses a security system which makes it difficult for internet fraudsters to have any chance in her ecosystem.
• Before the existence of Harmony, the platform which possess the highest amount of transaction per second happen to be multivac; a platform which is capable to possess 30,000 transactions per second. But when the platform named Harmony come to existence, she grows herself to an outstanding level. After a lot of brainstorming by her team, this platform is able to beat the defending champion among sharding networks, to become the only platform with the capacity to process 118,000 transactions per second.

How does sharding on multiple layers improve security and efficiency?
    with respect to Harmony’s ability to shard on multiple layers, confidential data is not stored in a particular shard or in a shard known to anyone. Therefore, it improves the security system of the platform by giving internet fraudsters no hint about the shard that house confidential data. Moreover, since data is saved in small unit in different shards, the transaction speed of the transactions carried out on her ecosystem is always fast because different shad handle different transaction.

Applications of Harmony.
   Considering the fact that Harmony has provided solution to every existing problem faced by blockchain users, a lot of projects have chosen to employ Harmony’s service into their project.
