Your advice is great, to not focus on everything at the same time. Save the tiny details for later, but refine down to that point where you're just debating on a single word change, or the placement of a comma.
I don't know how many times I pass through a story as I refine it (dozens? more?) but I swear I could 'refine' it indefinitely.
Me too. I don’t count. It’s a lot. For really polished work you have to go over it and let it rest, go over it and let it rest. And then your proofreading rounds begin. (But shhhh. I don’t want to scare away the new writers.)
