Framing the story into a succinct line or two is an art form of its own. And a very useful one. It helps to narrow into the main aspect of what is really at the heart of the story, as well teaching how to be brief with words.
I love that! Yes, I think that’s a really nice bonus; in forcing you to state the driving forces of your story succinctly, it is a lesson in brevity.
As writers we need to learn to cut out all unnecessary words when editing through our stories. This exercise just takes that concept to the nth degree.
