MY VOCAB PRACTICE:
Rebel
The rebel rebel is my favorite song of David Bowie, and it expresses the concept of rebel was in the 70's.
Belligerent
My sister was a contrarian kid, belligerent even in the less expected situations.
Antebellum
There is a high density of antebellum monuments in Italy.
Casus belli
The casus belli for the IWW was apparently the assassination of Ferdinand of Austria, an excuse to declare war to Serbia.
One thing I should point out. "Antebellum" almost always refers to the US Civil War, and it's generally used in reference to the South ( the slavery states, which lost that war).
But of course, that usage just shows the US's cultural imperialism. The actual meaning of the term is "before ANY war," and we'll use it that way whenever we want to.
Thanks! Antebellum comes from: antes (before) and bellum (war) before the war. I have translated plenty of poems from Latin to Italian and nobody has ever used it regarding the American Civil War. Latin language is much more ancient ;)
MY VOCAB PRACTICE.
The rebel forces had gained Independence from Great Britain.
The exploding grenades came with such a belligerent sound.
There is an antebellum museum located in the south.
Paris fell in love with Helen and envoked a casus belli from Sparta against Troy.
MY VOCAB PRACTICE
Some parts of the country fell into rebel hands.
The belligerent countries are having difficulties funding the war.
There are many antebellum houses in the area.
Intriguing Casus Belli system, where wars have specific goals from start to finish.
MY VOCAB PRACTICE.
1 Rebel
Children naturally rebel against their parents.
2 Belligerent
He was drunk and belligerent.
3 Antebellum
Plantation owners used to eat it in the antebellum South.
4 Casus belli
Casus belli is a Latin expression meaning "an act or event that provokes or is used to justify war" (literally, "a case of war").
@majes.tytyty I am new here and want to increase my vocabulary . I will try my best. thanks for sharing this
Welcome, and good luck. If you want to participate in the Vocab Practice, please read the RULES, which you will find in each post.
MY VOCAB PRACTICE:
1.Rebel is a nice girl living in our town
2.My grand-father belligerent in a war of independence.
3.We should prepare ourselves antebellum.
4.It was casus belli that a car hits me.
@majes.tytyt here is my submission
Please pay attention to how you construct your sentences. In #2, you've used "belligerent" as a verb! Even though the above example shows clearly that it is an adjective.
Oh i am really sorry :(
I am a bit weak in this approach!
Can you please point out my mistake and correct the sentence so that i could know what exactly my mistake is :)
I am here to learn sir!
MY VOCAB PRACTICE
Government troops have succeeded in capturing the rebel leader.
Apparently I became belligerent and he stepped in front of her.
In antebellum days, free persons of colour were musicians, poets, journalists, business entrepreneurs, and landlords.
A country discovering a successfull assassination, supporting rebels or desecration of holy site now gets a casus belli against the offender.
#3 is plagiarized. It's a direct copy-paste from this site. http://sentencedict.com/antebellum.html
Can't we google for some typical words?
Of course, you can google any words, and you can research any words and their definitions, and you can search for any other sample sentences.
But you canNOT copy-paste a sentence and pass off that sentence as your own writing. It's not your own.
The VOCAB PRACTICE exercise is intended to be a chance for you TO PRACTICE THE VOCABULARY BY USING IT in a sentence of your own creation. That's what "practice" means and that's how you will learn.
If you PRACTICE successfully, and if I read that your created sentence indicates that you understand the vocabulary, then I will give you an upvote.
If you simply google for an example and then copy-paste it in the answer, then you have NOT PRACTICED it. And if you copy-paste, then you will not learn. In those cases, I have no reason to give you an upvote.
Please read the VOCAB PRACTICE box in my post. Read point "B", and read Rule #3.
I hope you understand.
I will not do this in future, incase I find a difficult word, I will use Google to understand that word and get information about that and will not directly copy that. MY VOCAB PRACTICE really means to increase your Vocabulary day by day.

Thanks to both of you. The reason for Vocab-ability and Vocab Practice is to teach you these words, to present them in an easy-to-understand format, and to help you learn to use them.
If you follow the rules and proper procedures, this initiative will be a success, and you will gain essential knowledge of English that will probably benefit you in the future.
