Macchiata's Version of Do You Keep a Routine? | Bonus a link to printable schedule!
Honest, I'm inspired by @whatamidoing to do a post on " do you keep a routine?" and also @vincentnijman for keeping his consistency with his diary. I am so glad he does well and keep the diary going. It's a fun read during lunch break and you guys should read it!. He has effortless wit for sure.
Do you Keep a Routine?
The answer is actually very clear and it's a no. yet like himself ( whatamidoing), I tried to form a routine to maintain a balance and creating progress in my life. It's been a leaning patch journey yet I won't give up easily. Today I could ramble on a bit on my exam as a way to procrastinate. However, I did a tiny fragment on my responsibility as a student though by the end of the day, I ended up visiting a new restaurant and bakery nearby my flat.
So,most of us can go outside without having an anxiety and panic attack. I used to be an avid traveler but these days, going outside especially in La La Land is a frightening daily activity. There are many irresponsible rider and driver that can hit pedestrian anytime. I am most likely die in an accident or hit and run than a mass shooting. Likewise, I've had enough of terrible accident and not willing to have it anymore or anytime sooner. One more accident I'd deserve a badge!
Now, struggling with life management, I chose a minimalist lifestyle. However, I still hoard on crypto and books. Okay, being a minimalist does not mean someone is dead ass broke. They probably have investment somewhere over the clouds, penny stocks or you'd never know, a gold maybe?. As for myself, being minimalist means easier access to be a normal human being that breath, eat, sleep and shit. It's easier to locate my cutlery, easier to pick shirt, force myself to go outside and overcoming my own fear. I strongly suggest if you often lose your items, try to implement this lifestyle and see the magic works.
There are two version of myself when it comes to a daily routine. The sober me vs the drunk me. Let's get to know the sober macchiata!
This is a rare event that only happen maximum 5 days in a month!
When Macchiata is sober, here are what she does;
She would wake up at 6: 30 and would not snooze or dismiss her alarm. Then, she would rush into the shower and talking to herself about upcoming projects, ideas and how to reply people's question. She tries to figure out ideas she's been telling to people and think how to make it happen. She is forgetful. Oh and, she loves to think inside the shower because it's chilly.
The next thing she would do is dressing up and going to get a breakfast. Let's stop here a moment. for many of us, breakfast is a routine but not for macchiata, you would find her saying brunch almost in the evening just because she has forgotten to eat. When she's sober here's how her breakfast looks like :
It's either Cafe latte or Americano with local beans since some of her favorite coffee shop doesn't have macchiato. She willingly trade macchiato for a faster WiFI. She hates slow people and even more the internet connection. It can ruin her day. She would stay in the coffee shop until lunch time and in total she usually drinks 2-3 coffee.
After consuming coffee and news. She would to go take lunch. She would always find a way to find a new restaurant and or places to eat. Usually people take picture of their food but for macchiata, she feels odd doing it. look at this shaky picture!
A selfie for the day is a mandatory. It is a way to cherish the sober moment.
Soon as she gets back, she finds her way to read books and write couple of things. And talk to people.
Since she is now focusing on more research based content, she would be reading different points of views. Talk to people and ask around. It's very difficult for her to pick one at a breath.
In the middle of the day, something will ruin her day because her perfectionism get into the way. Then, the next day it's no more rainbow and daisies. It would take sometime and even weeks to recover.
The cycle continue and everyone moves on...
If you want to know how drunk macchiata can be, just reverse everything above and voila! Or if you happen to talk to her on discord, you will pretty much understand.
A bonus, Christmas is coming and everywhere has this beautiful Christmas tree decoration and She is like Ebenezer Scrooge in Christmas carol who doesn't give a shit. Perhaps she needs a visit from Christmas ghost to show her around, how a happy family would have a feast, having a chit chat and what not.

Find me on
The Be Awesome
It's where I hang out with bunch of cool peeps that talks about deepshit to mediocre stuff.
Although not everyday, most days I do keep a routine because it helps me maintain a proper order and besides it’s good for discipline.
But we should not forget the importance of trying new things from time to time!
@dedicatedguy, I am not a fan of order but I am trying . My sober version is very much nicer and I love how everything is easily to maintain and done. I do agree with you, it's always exciting to try new things from time to time!
Nice to know about your routine. It's much necessary to us. Routine balance our life and make it easy but we should be innovative. Every day should not be just past days. I mean every time does not fix. But there is also a lot of positive benefit of routine. Routine totally change the life. It teach us that how to be in a best behaviour. We don's waste our valuable time. Lots of benefits.....I totally enjoyed this post. If I talk about me, then yes i keep a routine but i like to change it during exams and in many other situations if circumstances are different.
Have a good day!
Thank you for sharing your life routine with us!
We all have our life routines, I call them "patterns". It feels like we sometimes get to used to those patterns and become a bit "robotic" and the only cure for that, in my opinion, is leaving our comfort zone and trying something new that truly excites us.
But we should also keep adding positive patterns to our routine in order to make our life little better 1% at a time and sometimes even more if we are brave!
@paps, That's an insightful quote from robin sharma. I knew it beforehand when I see his face :D
I agree with you, the world is full of wonders :)! and always try things that excite us.
Nice read! Not an expert at routines although I would probably need some more than most.. Might actually give that daily planner a try.
@privat! oh give it a try, print it and have some fun. I carry it everywhere :) thank you for reading tho xD
Haha sounds fun.. But I'll let you know if it works :) If I can actually get myself to do it!
How nice to be mentioned in the intro of a post by one of my very favorite Steemians! Cool to hear that I inspired you.
Your reference to my consistency project almost made me feel guilty about not having posted about it since a day or 5. As you might have noticed, I haven't stopped posting. I just felt like diversifying a little more (kind of like with crypto investing).
Anyhow, to get back to you and your post:
You more or less know my (routine) story but I just wanted to tell you that I love your style. How you jump from one subject to another, while describing your life in a very fun way.
Here's one question for you to ponder on:
Who do you like more, the drunk or the sober you?
Just curious ;)
@vincentnijman ha ha I get it, I mostly upvote and comment post through my laptop but I am a lurker reader and I read everything from my mobile. It's easier that way sometimes. You don't have to feel guilty about it. I read your posts since the beginning and I think it was a quite bit long journey till you've read this consistency. I really admire you for that.
I love both of myself. They have pros and cons. there's this famous quote on " write drunk edit sober". It's somehow true but it's a temporary escape and I have to stop one day :)) when I get somewhat older ha ha. But if you ask me to pick then maybe the sober me, I love it more because I have my adventure side with me and all the nicest food and places I can visit. I am very spontaenous when I am sober.
Have a great day!
Breakfast is a routine for me too! At around 1 PM!
Does that mean most days you are drinking vodka in class or something?
Oh and I guess third person is your style now ;-P
@whatamidoing, well I mostly go to college half tipsy. I could recall how many times I attended class being calm and focused. One shot of vodka and coffee used to help me creative, awake and hyperactive so I opt for that route.
Heck speaking about drinking vodka inside the class, I did! I had this tiny tumbler that I use, I filled it half vodka half orange juice and I shared it with my best classmate. I warned everyone that wants to try because it was containing alcohol. Vodka won't get me drunk that's the beauty of it haha.
!!!!!!!!!
Total rockstar!
Hah! I enjoyed this. I do keep a routine, but it's disorganised. I'm literally a disorganised mess ;)
@raymondspeaks, try out the printable schedule :D it somewhat helping even if you keep slipping now and then.
True, this does work with me!
I don't keep any kind of a special routine, I just get up and do my thing every day.
Even when I am on vacation, like now.
In essence I am a binge writer, I don't do anything slow or small.
@aschatria, It's great that you have holiday at the moment. I am still getting choked by work, exam and I miss my study time where I usually ponder about religion, politic and well philosophical shit.
My holidays consist of not being online 24/7, as I have a natural prolonged sleeping cycle. In other words I am taking it easy ( otherwise my fridge would be empty after a few days hahahaha).
I hope you will get all sorted with work.
Oh yeah, I keep a routine. It brings me balance, even when I wobble far from the schedule–it returns me to a state of "ease." I'm with you in believing routine is a secret to health and well-being. In fact, there was a four-year period in my life when I dealt with chronic migraines (headache every day), and along with that came depression, etc. And I managed to work my way to freedom by embracing a schedule for sleeping and eating. Now, I'm a dad, with three little ones, and the years of practice in keeping routines is a major advantage in my family life.
@cabelindsay, oh glad to have a visit from my ocd brother. I've been through the same and I am still a mess but it's been good overtime. I tried various techniques and I recently found one that clicks on me which is like the PDF I linked above. Especially if you're a family man, well it's super important to keep a routine, else it'd be very overwhelming.
Happy to hear your routine is clicking. Yeah, I relate with that feeling of overwhelm, and clutter, and chaos. Each day for me is a practice in being peaceful in myself and extending that peace toward my family, like bringing calm waters to a rocking boat.
I try to keep a routine, nevertheless, I notice when I keep consistent with a routine I experience better results.
@tyebrook, keep on doing your routine, it'll get better :)
