The Invisible Prison
Warning: This is no conspiracy theory.
Looking at the world through my window I often get the impression that we're all part of a massive experiment. We're all given a unique ID almost as soon as we are born, only to be forced to follow the exact same steps as everyone else within the next years of our lives. Education is mandatory, however the school system keeps trying to shape kids' personality and beliefs according to the government's interests, in order to produce more and more workers that are smart enough to run the machines and dumb enough to never ask any questions.
They fuel racism through history books manipulated by corrupt leaders, in order to keep entire nations busy fighting each other and spending billions and trillions on weapons and military research. Only to keep the same people getting richer and more powerful. You're born fresh off the production line to enter a process that's aiming to eliminate any critical thinking skills you might possess. They use your fear to keep you in control.
Just like they use fear to fight freedom. People are rather scared of being actually free nowadays. I guess we're all institutionalized. We all live inside warm and comfortable houses, at least those of us that are fortunate enough. There are cameras and satellites watching our backs, locked doors keeping our places impenetrable and security personnel patroling and guarding our neighborhoods. Numbers and signs specify which house belongs to whom, while street names make sure that anyone posing a threat can be spotted.
The very same reason why all phone calls are being recorded and stored, all emails are being monitored and all smartphones and smart TVs are spying on everyone. We need to be safe, even if that means we have to abolish the bill of rights. We don't want to risk our safety so we'd rather live in a prison cell with bars and cameras keeping us absolutely safe. Insane but true. Apparently being mindless is a lot safer; having a brain might cause you to be perceived as a danger.
Just imagine having superhuman vision for a day. You could see all those wires surrounding you inside four walls. You could see all those beings trapped inside their own four walls and wires, in perfect horizontal and vertical alignment with each other. You could see the invisible prison they've put us all in.

This is an excellent, well articulated post. I like the Marxist approach in your writing. We are all prisoners because we've been socialized to be normal and, of course, being normal requires trading a part of your freedom for the acceptance of others.
I hope to read more of this expository post.

Unfortunately, there's no money in peace. We continue to sell our safety to technology and live in a constant state of fear through the divisive, institutional tactics you mention.. much like cattle we are herded.
I do believe people are asking more questions, but the Elite in Power are doing their best to sow seeds of confusion and distrust. There's strength in numbers.

The key to getting out of that prison I think is free thought, and having the courage to strike out in faith and take risks. Good observations.
