The right man for the job

“How would you murder a megacity?”
Now that was a question you don’t often see. What were they thinking was the job he was applying to? A terror organization?
But still, it was an interesting one. Testing his ability to find answers? Anyway…
It mostly depended on what you thought constituted the murder. Killing all people there but leaving the infrastructure untouched, like the bones of a human body that are still intact after the death?
Then bacteria's were your friends.

Or devastate everything?
Then your best bet for something as big as a megacity was an atomic bomb.

Or just clog the arteries? Destroy a few big chokepoint streets and nothing works. Maybe cut the electricity? That was worse then even water. Water could be brought in in cars, but electricity? And without it nothing works, no pumps, no freezer, no lights. It is said civilization is three days away from complete breakdown without energy. Maybe even less.

But what if you take a different view on the city? Not complete destruction but just that what constituted it? A big mass of people being more or less ignorant of each other, going their own way, mending their business.
If you take that live and let live attitude away? If you feed them contradictory information, herd them in groups, let them reinforce their own view by showing them only what their peers with the same point of view think?
Let them have their own words, their own leaders, until they are unable to understand each other even when they are talking about the same? Neighbor harboring and nurturing hate for each other, spreading it around…
You need to be a fairly goddamned outlaw to do such a thing!
