Facebook can make you feel like your life isn't as cool as everyone else - But steemit makes you feel like your life will soon be cooler than everyone else

A lot of people would agree with me that Facebook has become a tool for social comparison. People these days tend to believe that those who have buzzing News Feed with pictures of them touring the world and living life on Facebook are having a better life than they are and this in turn sometimes leads to depression. You login to Facebook and the first thing you see is an old classmate waking up to breakfast at The Thief Hotel and this in turn makes you feel like life is so unfair to you. Facebook has become a tool that leads to envy. Even if most of the times the life you see is fake!

But the funny fact is that the same way you envy others on Facebook most times is the same way they envy you. 70% of the life you see on Facebook is a lie! So next time you want to feel depressed, remember this. Have you really asked yourself what it is you have benefited from Facebook??? But you can recall how many times Facebook has done something you didn't ask it to do. Like giving an old forgotten ex a platform to stalk you! Ever received a friend request from someone you'll rather want to forget? Opening the request and seeing that person's face might ignite memories you have worked so hard to bury.

Now let's talk about steemit

Unlike Facebook that won't reward you for being you, or reward you with extra income for carrying out your hobby. On Facebook no one will give you one cent for writing a great article no matter how creative it is and the thousands of likes and comments you get on them. Steemit has given everyone a platform to turn their creativity to wages. You earn from your creativity and live the life people pretend to live on Facebook. You don't get to open your steemit newsfeed to see those lies that can get you depressed. The only thing you find most times are people's shared ideas, people turning their hobbies to dollar signs. It gives you a sense of belonging and makes you feel like very soon your life will be cooler than everyone else.

Although Facebook has it's advantages when it comes to posting pictures of family and friends and recalling birthdays, it demerits outweighs it merits in the sense that it tends to encourage negative energy. A lot of people go out of their way just to impress others on Facebook and a huge amount of people buy into such lies which in turn affects their self esteem negatively.

I am only a few hours old on steemit but i can see the huge potentials it has already!
