I’m sorry you were too young [New Writing]
I’m sorry you were too young.
This is to the girl,
I perhaps could have been:
I’m sorry you never stood a chance
I’m sorry life came in between
I’m sorry you got your share of life
Before you were ready to actually live it
I’m sorry you’ll never witness, with those eager eyes
Whatever it was about, that you were dreaming
I’m sorry you were too young
To realise that you were just a kid
I’m sorry you grew up
Too many sizes taller than were yours to fit
I’m sorry for having to say goodbye
It’s time for me to go my own way
Thank you for being the big girl that didn’t cry
Even though life was anything but a child’s play
Great poem @lauraorigin. Though very plane in the language, it was deep in its reflection. Sometimes I sin as a writer (or poet, if I may), because I tend to overcomplicate things. Your poem remind me that sometimes the best art is the one with a universal message. Cheers from México!
Hi @alonsomath , thank you for mentioning that! Full disclosure: I do often find myself looking for the perfect word far too long as well;).
I recently went through everything I've ever posted online, and I noticed the 'first version' (aka with less attention to detail and more use of 'simple language' to express something) always gained the most/best response actually... (Posted on various platforms, with no strict order to where I posted what version btw)
'Beauty in Simplicity' I guess ;) Looking forward to read your work later on btw!
I'll definetly consider that experience from you :)
Thanks to you!
