Hope

Daniel Hudson Burnham once wrote,

make no little plans. They have no magic to stir men's blood. Make big plans: aim high in hope and work.

How big are your dreams? How big is your faith? Perhaps the most important question is, "HOW BIG IS YOUR GOD?"

The psalmist wasn't writing about a wishy washy that might or might not come true. His hope was a certainty, for his faith rested securely in the God of Jacob, the one who made heaven and earth, the sea and sky. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob who came to earth as Jesus Christ- fed the hungry, opened blinded eyes, and led sinners to the freedom of repentance and forgiveness.

This is the same God we serve. So why are our hopes and dreams more of the "lord just get me through the day" variety?.
Let's remember an important verse: "This is the confidence that we have in him, that if we ask anything according to his will. He hears us" (1 john 5:14).

Do you hope to lead your children to the lord? Do you hope to reach your neighbor with the love of the gospel? Do you hope to make a difference for Christ in your community? Or in the world?.

Aim high in hope, and make big plans. Work as if everything depends on you; pray as if everything depends on God. Then you will be able to join the psalmist in saying, "I will hope continually, and will praise you yet more and more"(Ps. 71:14)
