Village Welfare | Write-up | Episode01
My First Write-up is on VILLAGE WELFARE
India is said to be a country of villages. In fact, about three-fourths of our population still live in villages. Hence arises the importance of village welfare for the progress of the country. Formerly, village life was very happy. People had very few wants and these wants they could easily meet in their own villages. They got their food from their own fields. The other needs were looked after by the landowners (Zamindar). They made roads, set up schools and dispensaries and arranged for the religious and cultural entertainment of the villagers. Carpenters, weavers, smiths lived in the villages and served both rich and poor. So, the villages were self-sufficient and the people there lived a contended and happy life.
But with the progress of industry, towns began to grow up. The lure of town life drew the landlords and other rich men away from the villages. Carpenters, weavers, smiths lost their customers and they had to come over to towns for a living. The result was that the villages were left neglected and their economy ruined. Realising that there can be no question of improving the country without improving the villages. the programme for village welfare has been taken up in right earnest. People are being lured back to villages. Trained persons with knowledge of improved methods of cultivation and cottage industry are now posted in villages to train the villagers in agricultural production, and setting up cottage industries for self-employment.
Simultaneously, a drive has been taken under the Community Development Projects to make village life as attractive as possible. New roads and bridges are being constructed. Dispensaries and health centres have been opened to look after rural health. Bank loans on easy terms are being given to the farmers, weavers and traders to start the business. Electricity has made its presence felt in the rural areas. Shallow Tubewells for irrigation systems are also within easy reach of the farmers. Telephone and Mobile Towers are not a dream anymore from the village life perspective. There are few villages in the country which are equally taking the benefits of the Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and Telecom Companies lucrative products and services as Urban people do. There is every hope that further improvements in village life will take place in near future, resulting in the prosperity of the country.
even the post was short but you tried to make it to the point. Thnx for your effort. Keep them coming more.
