The story above is a satire. It advances the view that the oppressed will always fight back when they are pushed to the wall, the thorny walla of subjugation and alienation. The rat, as you perfectly observed, had to eat what was available when there was nothing left again. There is a saying to the effect that one day the poor will eat the rich when there is nothing left to eat.
Hmmm. Very deep and resound one....
Hmmm, true though. Just like Pap.
It was an amazing story and one I could easily relate to.
