Do You Remember the Time???

in #writing7 years ago

I look at what our society has become by and large and a strange thought struck me the other day.
How many people remember when all the fear mongering settled around serial killers. The Son of Sam. Helter Skelter, the Exorcist. Jeffrey Dahmer and Wayne what's his face.
We were constantly warned not to let the children go outside to play for fear of them being kidnapped then brutalized.
Then how many times did we hear 'if you don't think it can't happen to you...'
Nowadays it's all been packaged up under the neat little moniker called terrorism, and if something outrageous happens and someone doesn't call it terrorism, well they just need to be tarred and feathered!
But at the end of the day, it's all either manufactured or just straight up staged for the purposes of fear and an environment full of tension.
I also remember once upon a time when the TV news magazines like 20/20, Nightline, Dateline NBC and 60 minutes actually reported on things that were a real threat to We the People, like this corrupt ass Federal Government or all these killer cops, or the military industrial complex with their NDAA, but anymore it's all about the sensational murder/love triangle that has absolutely no impact of bearing on my life whatsoever.
Remember the Menendez Brothers murder trial? OJ's ride into infamy? Micheal's trial for being a cho-mo. Rodney King.
I firmly believe that these were test cases to see if one of the most potent and devastating weapons that has ever been unleashed on mankind was living up to it's potential. Then once the conclusion came up to a big fat yes, they took it to the next level with the whole terrorism thing, high definition, depravity and decadence, and look where we're at now.
So what's my point? Know thy enemy and stop letting them use their weapons against us. Human nature really hasn't changed all that much. We've just been manipulated to believe it has, but there are very very few people who are inherently bad who do bad things. So when it comes to all these mass shootings or terrorist events that take place wherever, we just have to remember what weapon they're using to bring that shit into our living rooms and our lives. Well their lives because I really do my best to keep from watching or listening to any of it.
Human nature is primarily good. Overwhelmingly so, and when I'm partaking in the events of my little corner of the universe, I see absolutely NONE of what these sick bastards are trying to convince me that is a part of my life.
So at the end of the day, it really is about what's in front of us that matters. It's about enjoying what we have that's true and good in our lives and understanding without a shadow of a doubt that my world is tangible; not some fucked up wasteland where everybody wants to hurt everybody else or spew a bunch of venom in some else's face.
That's the world they want us to live in and by simply saying no, their tactics and efforts become absolutely ineffective AND I WIN!!!
