Writing Prompt 1: Bite-sized Fiction
We often have complex relationships with food.
Some foods are polarizing (think olives, raw fish, how well-done a steak). Some foods are nostalgic (think about that recipe that’s been in your family for generations). Some foods are comforting (i.e. ice-cream to sooth heartache). Some foods are hard-earned (consider your first garden or tackling a tricky recipe). Think diets. Think ugly food. Think grocery shopping. Think farmer’s markets. Think dishes. Think cutlery. Think about that thing that’s been living in the back of your fridge for who-knows-how-long.
Now write about it.
In a bite-sized 50 words, compose a brief but full story about food. One strategy could be to write long (say 100 words) and boil it down to the most essential, most juicy 50 words.
I'd love to read what you come up with!

Thank you for sharing the tip about writing something long out first, then boiling it down. I often find myself trying to edit down something while I am still writing it. This has made me rethink how to write when I entered into this weeks fiftywords contest by literature-trail.
