"The Coming of the Dawn" a writing by my friend Udeme Ralph

Rejoice! The dawn has come.
Slowly it walks, but surely it shall reach our world, and certainly our
eyes shall see its glorious light.
Every beginning has a beginning, and every new day has a point
from which its newness begins.
Often, we sit for long, grieving the sorrows of the dusk and of the night,
waiting patiently for the dawn, when all tears would be dried up,
when all teeth will be revealed in beaming gleeful grins.
But the dawn, at such times, seems far away, and the night seems
endless and recurring.

Gone are such bleak days, when the dawn would fail to come,
when the faith of men would be in vain, and the hope of souls
would grow cold and unbearably old.
Now, our ears can receive the pleasant sounds from afar and
our eager noses can perceive the sweet scent of the blooming roses.
Together we have witnessed as the sky gradually gives up its
gloomy darkness.
The night is far spent and the light of the day is set to take its place.

Seated in dark corners are the diverse ignorant ones, who, in sheer
pessimism, hope not to see the reign of light.
“This darkness is endless,” they say; “this suffering is timeless.”
How wrong they are, to think that humanity shall forever be in
captivity, that the world shall eternally know no joy.
How wrong. How awfully wrong are the hopeless ones, who spend
precious moments, thinking that darkness has swallowed light, or
that evil has won the war against good.
Are they not the very ones in lonely confinements, who have not
yet stepped out of dark corners, to hear the sounds we now hear,
and see the silent light that loom from the horizon?
“Come out,” our voices reach out to all,
“The dawn has come.”

For long, we’ve yearned to see this moment, and now,
it is right here with us, leaving us void of thoughts and words.
The sun has not yet fully risen, and the dawn has not fully
reached our doors, but we know it will; we know that what our
eyes now see are no illusions; we know that our ears have not
heard false voices, and that our perceptions have not
fallen prey to strange deceptions.
This picture before us is as real as day and night.

Finally, the great darkness has become a small entity, and
the stale air of the previous day has come to an endless end,
as fresh wind of change blows blissfully from the west.
The singing birds are clearing their throats,
the clouds are humming, and the dews have risen to
settle on leaves; indeed, omens of sweet epochs.
The reign of tiresome complex thoughts have come and gone;
and before us is the government of insight and delight,
simplicity and magnificence.
Our racing hearts have received a touch of endless calm.
A sign of delight. A sigh of relief.

The air is filled with good tidings; a new day has come;
a new child is born.
Here and there are echoes of triumph and joy.
Let the men cast off their deadly armaments and let the
women adorn themselves with costly apparels;
let the children of this great earth bring forth harps and cymbals,
trumpets and organs, and let warring nations use their guns as
sticks for the drum of joy.
Together, in love, unity and perfect harmony,
let’s celebrate the coming of the dawn.
