Yes, the difference of a year is immense... it's a shame some of the newbies want everything right now!
Yes, that is a shame ... and it's the same in 'real life', where far too many people feel entitled and want everything right now, too.
IMHO, if you write well and have a good story to tell, it will stand the test of time - and your work definitely does!
