I kept thinking about the true life "just pay later setup" that Filipinos were trapped in to take that long overseas journey to work for the Dole Corporation in Hawaii.
What were they paying for?
An overpriced, suit coat, slacks, dress shirt, tie, and shoes "required" to make the journey on a company owned vessal!
So, in essence, even before landing in Hawaii, the Dole Corp had its potential employees in a trap of perpetual debt.
