Where did we come from?
Why are we here?
Is our planet alone?
Which forces compose our reality by what interactions?
How long has the show been going on here?
Is time relative to attention?
Are we part of nature?
Is the human soul immortal and infinite?

These time tested lines of questioning have been merely mused upon as lofty pursuits by our current scientific & religious paradigms. Often claims are made that one or several of these questions can be understood through the use of scientific theory, and they can be, in theory. However the ability to pursue experimenting or testing these questions of life often put honest scientists up against the barriers of scientific thought that they use to deem parts of reality as rational or physical. Conversely these truth seekers deem other factors, supernatural, or even religious elements of reality as dependent on individual belief. What is the point of institutions that proselytize to us about the truth, if it were to remain the truth independent of us believing?

Curiously, you may find that religion and science have very little difference of methodology regarding the pursuit and enforcement of intellect and rational. Both institutions seem to say to their followers, “No, we already found what the answers are, people got deserved credit, and no reformation or subversion will be occurring here.” I can think of no greater example of the clash of the philosophical titans than religion, science, and government’s attempts to do battle over the fate of the Giza plateau.

Today the pyramids are surrounded by Egypt’s increasingly modern society. The pyramids stand in the middle beckoning reason and spirit to ponder the essence of our souls. Other than electricity and the internet, not too much has been changed since the pyramids were built. Dynasties that used the pyramids as symbols of their power, or even for whatever their purpose initially was, came and went. People have been here the whole time learning, sharing experiences, recording, and evolving our mythical understanding this monument’s ethos.

In the past some interesting research was allowed by the titans. In the early nineties John Anthony West began several projects that were never completed because they caused too much controversy for the government. One of them was a robot that was built to access the end of the subhuman diameter shaft that subsequently, found a door at the end of the passage.

The other notable study was a ground penetrating survey of the subterranean area beneath the great sphinx that revealed a large chamber under the lions paw as well as another small tunnel behind the sphinx, running down into the earth. The man that allowed these probes, chief Inspector of the Giza Pyramid Plateau, Dr. Zahi Hawass, was fired from his position in 1996 after he stated his intentions to pursue further investigation of scientific findings.

There has been much interest and apprehension to investigate the chamber under the great sphinx because the chamber is speculated by many to be the location of the books of Thoth. This book, likely books, is said by some to possibly contain records of science, intellect, and philosophy from the lost civilization of Atlantis. This belief can be traced most recently to American psychic, Edgar Cayce, who prophesied before his death in 1947 that this Hall of Records would one day be rediscovered and opened.

Today there exists many believers of his words with the most prominent being the Association for Research and Enlightenment. Their headquarters in Virginia Beach oversees branches in over 35 countries. Their website reads like a cult classic with the headline; Find Your Soul's Purpose!

If they do know something, they do not appear to be sharing without membership fees. Others contend that this artifact is purely fictional in nature, originating from the mention of the books existence in Hellenistic and Egyptian mythology. Take this wikipedia entry for example:

  • Fictional book
The fictional Book of Thoth appears in an ancient Egyptian story from the Ptolemaic period. The book, written by Thoth, is said to contain two spells, one of which allows the reader to understand the speech of animals, and one of which allows the reader to perceive the gods themselves.[5]

According to the story, the book was originally hidden at the bottom of the Nile near Coptos, where it was locked inside a series of boxes guarded by serpents. The Egyptian prince Neferkaptah fought the serpents and retrieved the book, but in punishment for his theft from Thoth, the gods killed his wife Ahwere and son Merib. Neferkaptah committed suicide and was entombed along with the book. Generations later, the story's protagonist, Setne Khamwas (a character based on the historical prince Khaemwaset), steals the book from Neferkaptah's tomb despite opposition from Neferkaptah's ghost. Setne then meets a beautiful woman who seduces him into killing his children and humiliating himself in front of the pharaoh. He discovers that this episode was an illusion created by Neferkaptah, and in fear of further retribution, Setne returns the book to Neferkaptah's tomb. At Neferkaptah's request, Setne also finds the bodies of Neferkaptah's wife and son and buries them in Neferkaptah's tomb, which is then sealed.[6]

Understandably with these opposing views, somebody is wrong. Clearly if a book were in existence that would shatter every stagnate institutional thought process in most of the world, we would instinctively prevent this from happening by guarding its proliferation. Our nature to protect reigns supreme in instinct, but is this always good for the future of civilization? Now for the first time in Egypt there is a democratically elected government. The people could now demand further investigation if the dominant opinion sways in favor of educational progress, a far cry from the reign of a pharaoh or kings absolute power to dictate the truth.

The other study of the so called air shafts that revealed the door was even more problematic. Eventually a new robot was designed to open the door called Upuaut II. At the end of the shaft they found a stone door with two copper pieces they called handles attached. The new robot had an improvised drilling mechanism that successfully opened the door. Upuaut II advanced into the next chamber and found another closed door. If you would think that is metaphor, you would be right. Just to get the robot through one door had taken years and God knows how much sacrificed manpower. The next door would remain shut, and still does to this day. Since the discovery, robotics engineer Rudolf Gantenbrink from Munich, has been barred from all work concerning the great pyramid.

The chamber under the Sphinx has never been officially investigated, even by fiber optic cable, and the site, like the pyramid, is strictly controlled. Whatever the truth is, there are great mysteries at play here. I want to believe that we are living in a unique time on the cusp of a new philosophical age than the far more likely scenario of the book already being looted without the world’s knowledge. Ultimately the fate of these matters which effect the peoples history of the world lies now in the hands of Egypt’s people while all hopes of Atlantis lie in our philosophy and dreams.

Sort:

Excellent article, it reminds me a lot of the work of Graham Hancock and Randall Carlson in that our official history may be 'built on pillars of sand'. Many ancient cultures consistently point to even older , and greater, civilizations that were all destroyed by cataclysm, such as Gunung Padang and Göbekli Tepe. On the geological side incresing evidence is pointing towards and immense and virtually instant catastrophe of the Younger Dryas.

I remain immensely optimistic that our view of human civilization is going to go much deeper into history and break from a purely, slow-and-steady progress view to a more realistic understanding of civilization rise-and-fall throughout history.

Thank you, much of the inspiration to write this story came from Hancock's work. I am inspired by archaeological revisionists and all people who have the will to open their mind to other possible ways of solving our questions of existence. Carl P. Munck's metrology research into megalithic monuments is some of the most interesting and might contain all the necessary data to break the paradigm.
I listened to this video of Hancock today, he is very compelling and the evidence is fascinating.

I hope your right, but old history is often hard to change..
What new geological evidence has come to light concerning the Younger Dryas?
