Cthulhu's Nephew: Part Four of Four

3 Months Later...

He opened the door like so many times before. Feeding time, his little pet, his growing family.

“Bambi, I brought you your favorite.”

He dropped the bowl spilling brown red contents across the floor and up the wall. The silver spoon clinks across hard wood floor.

“My dear!” He rushed to her side where she lays motionless. Two red plastic high heel shoes placed neatly next to the mattress in a lake of thick dark blood. It soaked the fabric and pooled across the floor. The blood still trickled from between her legs at the massive tear. The edges of the puddle have begun to dry. Her lifeless body cradles five oviform transparent grey sacks. Inside something wiggles. He pealed her stiff arms away dripping in thin green ooze.

“My babies.” He pets the exterior of the shells with open palms. Small black claws on the inside of thin mucous membranes reach back. One of them pokes through. The eggshell exhausts a mist and deflates. Its chubby cute razor fingers come into contact with oxygen for the first time. The skin darkens and cracks.

“Come my children, “Carl said. “Soon we will have our family reunion and your Great Uncle will no long hide.”

A small glistening fish eyed head poked through the open egg sack.

“Hatch my babies. Hatch and feast on your mother. Her cells will nurture you. They are encrypted in the memory and enzymes. Eat, and learn. The history of this planet is housed in her DNA. Eat and grow and we will find Great Uncle Cthulhu and wake him.”
