On Being Bitter

in #writing7 years ago (edited)

You could be caught up in the most attractive wrapper
with everybody wanting a taste
but as soon as you land on their tongue, they spit you out faster
than a cop car on a chase.

Nobody wants you, you're worthless.
Why be a harm to yourself by being so full of yourself
Take a chill pill while I write you, a reality check
Bitter has no friends to bank on, no respect.

Reputation's got a lot to say
Empty barrels make the loudest noise but in a different way
There's a thin line between "nuisance" and "most wanted"
Thread carefully, these needles might prick your skin.

Talking about prick, where's your conscience at?
What do you stand to gain when you're sitting on all these trash?
Sowing seeds of disharmony, you hungry farmer
Take a cue from Fifth Harmony and own this hour

Destiny said it, you got to get up and get it; get mad independent and don't you ever forget it.

Quick Note

Dear Bitter One,

Love your neighbor as yourself. To do this, you've got to love yourself. If you can't love your neighbor, then you hate yourself. There's more to life than being bitter. No one ever gets to the top by dragging others down. Quit fooling around like an attention seeking circus clown. Wish people well and it'll be well with you. Ask what thou want and if thou deserves it, thou shall get it. Bitter doesn't pay. Be sweet today.

An elderly teacher in India was tired of the constant complaints of his disciple. And so, one morning he sent him to bring salt. When he returned, the teacher forced the disgruntled young man to pour a handful of salt into a glass of water and then drink it.

What taste does it have? He asked.
"Bitter," said the disciple.

The teacher smirked, then told the young man to pour the same amount of salt into the lake. The two men went silently to the nearby lake, and when the disciple threw a handful of salt into the water, the old man said,

"Drink now from the lake.

When the water touched his lips, the teacher asked him again:

What taste does it have?
"Sweet," said the answer this time.

Then the teacher sat down next to the young man, who so much reminded him of himself in his youth, grasping his hands and saying,

The pain in life is a handful of pure salt - more and less. It always remains the same. But the bitterness we taste depends on the dish that dissolves the pain. So when it hurts you can only expand your own perception ... Do not be a glass. Be a lake.

Thank you for this!

Wow... incredible! Thank you for the wise and knowledge packed story.

Hello.
Excellent comment. There is enough for everyone.

"Do not be a glass. Be a lake"- Would really love if you explain the sentence in quote.

I want to understand from your own perspective

@yagoub

No one ever gets to the top by dragging others down.

That's the truth, I don't know what someone will gain from bringing a fellow down.

People should change such ideology.

I'm glad to get my reputation cleared today.

Excellent! One must love himself to love his neighbour!

Good one Sir

Oh my... this is soooooo hmm. I dont know how to qualify the feeling of contentment I got by reading this note/article.

@fisteganos I love the justice you did to this work. Perhaps when we are happy with others success and happiness we are having a feel of how it will feel when we attain that height.

Thank you, thank you, thank you friend.

Thank you!

I mean, no one has ever been said to have died from being happy. You know the story with bitter people.

Trust me I know the bitter people's story, it never ends well. Bitter ending in a nutshell 😁

Envy no one. Live as if everyday is your last because one day it would be true. Being bitter does not pay. Channel that energy into useful things. That is how to get ahead with life. Gracias

Haha... its a real , yes sir!

Hahahaha @fisteganos and @gloglo, una no go kill person!

👏👏👍

Sagacious! The law of Karma rings a bell.

However, I must say its not an easy task to stay sweet when people around taunt your sweetness.

Personally I don't consider giving the deserving a verbal smack around bitter. Sometimes shit gotta be told it's shit.

"Deserve it" in this context referring to the actively malveont. Having more money than me doesn't count lol

Lol.

You are good with words

NEW WORD ALERT! :) Thanks.

I doubt there's any easy task on this earth and we really can't expect someone to ALWAYS be sweet but this is talking about those that ALWAYS are bitter. Even karma might seem slow some times hence the appeal to them to change their ways.

It pays to love than to be a hater.

Even if love or loving hurts, I think hate or hating hurts the most. It hurts the hater and the hated.

I like this!

😊

Hate does no good!
