The Immortal Agenda

in #writing9 years ago

It is the year 2028,

And we have the first human living to be 130+ years old and is the most talked about news story since the assassination of Bill Gates. Bayer corp has just revolutionized pharmaceuticals with the first FDA approved Nano-tech based medicine. The 130 year old human was their first live test subject some 10 years prior. We see the largest crowd-source funding of anything since VRblock. A block-chain based technology that allows users around the world to exist in a VR based world linked, by their SS# or other Gov't ID#. When you die in this Virtual World, your number is deleted from the block-chain, never to exist again.

With the crowdfunding of Bayer's new medicine. It's officially the first time in history that someone in Kikao, Botswana receives the same grade medical privileges as someone in Pasadena, California. And for the first time in 65 years the world appears happy and headed in the right direction.

Within months of the news and immediate treatment, most of the world begins to appear younger. New color and hair regrowth is seen in almost every case. People around the world have ceased medical treatment and canceled surgeries. Shortly after, the wheelchair bound are walking with aids and eager of their progress knowing it won't be long until they can walk by themselves.

This is the future and it was bought to us by Nano-technology. Microscopic machines capable of fixing the human body where no treatment or surgery is capable of reaching. These machines are capable of not only repairing ligaments and spinal cord tissue, but hormone producing glands and synapse receptors.

Though the world still seems more divided than ever. Certain religious factions who refused treatment begin rioting and hundreds of doctors around the world are murdered in response. Slowly the number of people refusing treatment begin to decline. Eventually, several thousand of the religious sect are imprisoned and await trial for suspected terrorism and treason.

The world recognizes this group as the last race. Those that refused the medicine of the future. The immortal tech of biology. And a future in which sickness and disease is history, learned about only in school.
Before the trial, a public debate is held to be broadcasted on every major network. The whole world is ready to put the discussion to rest once and for all. So many lives were hurt and ended because of something so good. Yet everyone expects an apology or explanation on why this necessary revolution was met with such disbelief.

In the opening statement, the speaker for the side of modern medicine present the facts. No one has died of so called natural causes after being administered the medicine for a new age. Children from third world nations born with Poliomyelitis, yet are now cured, are seated behind the speakers. And it’s no surprise the speaker herself won the battle with erythropoietic porphyria, a disease that makes individuals allergic to the sun and unable to be exposed to it without protective clothing – all because of this “miracle medicine.”

When it’s time for the speaker against the arcane medicine to speak, the crowd quickly silences. The shushing of children around the world can almost be heard. The speaker takes his time to examine the crowd as if expecting to recognize someone. He then begins his speech:

Hello people of the world,

I’m speaking on behalf of those from the world’s religious community who’s voices have been silenced. But I haven’t come here to tell you of what the world could be like without this… medicine. Most of us should remember a time when the world was afflicted by disease and the struggles of that kind. But our point of argument is not one commonly thought of –- it is of the unknown. I’m here today to present to you the future of our world as it continues down its current path. And I’m not going to manipulate it into a religious drama. It’s very simple -

Most of you are going to live, indefinitely. You will have an unknown set of days until your final breath. The world as we know it will be saved from the death of an old term referred to as “natural causes.” And it will now become unnatural to die.

So what will a world look like without suffering from disease, sickness, and death. Some might say an ideal future. We see it as trading one unknown for another. Death presents the unknown, and the lack of death will soon become another.

But we do know one thing is certain. When it becomes unnatural to die we have already ceased to live. Everything becomes less valuable. Even our very breath. All that is given has no fear of being taken away. Sure.. war, famine, and murderous acts will still happen. Though I’m certain technology will one day prove those non-existent as well.

In the end though it needs to simply be put as this. Many of you do not believe in a hell or maybe even a higher power. Science has proved itself capable of all things. And to exist in this world, unceasingly, will develop into a new form of imprisonment. We will play all the roles in this prison. We will be the inmates, the guards, and the warden. Because there is only one thing that removes the hidden treasure of a life that exists outside of here- and that is your own free will to choose it. So if there truly was an evil force outside of us, wanting to manipulate all that is good or can exist. Not only would it want to prevent death, it would do so by preventing life. Take these words into your heart because it may be the last time you recognize that as well.

Thank you.
