TEOTWAWKI (An Original Novel - Episode # 133)
We Take The Island With Us
The crowd laughed. Everyone got a chuckle out of that, even Cody’s Mom. She was proud of her son and with good reason.
“So that’s how Fluffy came about” Shelby said, once more taking center stage. “Now let me tell you a little bit more about how the Banana Slug came to be. One day Chad made a discovery.....”
“Hey I, look at what I got” Chad called out.
“Whut?” I hadn’t had enough coffee yet to track well.
“One of our sewer bots made an interesting discovery,” Chad said.
“What did it find?” I stopped myself from making turd jokes... by a supreme effort of will....it was hard.
“Coal,” Chad said, with an evil grin on his face.
“Coal? Hmmm...” I understood and was grinning also. “Better call the Boss.”
“The difficult we do right away,” I told the Ryujin.
“The impossible just takes a little longer,” she finished.
“...and revenge is a dish best served cold,” We all said in unison.”
“YES!”
After conferring with the boss she took decisive action as usual. Shortly thereafter a QEC Text was transmitted to everyone.
Kamiko Akiyama to “ALL”

I have been informed of
a solution to our
harassment problem
.
We need to talk about it.
Rather than having a town hall meeting
like we did last time we’ll try something else.
.
A Virtual Town Hall.
Tune in to Channel 0 at 6 P.M.
(parents, if you don’t know what that means.
ask your children..they know.)
that afternoon at
6 pm. on Channel 0
Kamiko Akiyama: “Good afternoon everyone. This will save some time. I’m sure you all are getting tired of the constant harassment from the real estate people. It’s getting ugly.
They’ve escalated.
“Yesterday night the government was here to help us, again. A group of thugs attempted to kill one of our children.”
Dead silence. Kamiko stood looking into the eyes of everyone present. Through the magic of Virtual Reality it was as if she was examining their souls.
Finally someone dared to break the silence.
Ernesto Galvani: “What happened Ma’am. What did they do?”
Kamiko Akiyama: “They died. The child in question, he’s only six or seven I believe, killed three of them. His mother took care of his light work. Officer TwoFeathers arrived after it was all over to dispose of the bodies.”
Silence. Awe, then grins began to appear...one of THEIR boys had done that...THEIR BOY!
Shouting, whistles and applause.
Kamiko Akiyama: Like I said. They’ve upped their game. Based upon past observations, they will never give up. They will continue to escalate until they get what they want.
Sheryl Gadsby: What about us?
Kamiko Akiyama: In normal circumstances people like us would either give in to their demands, or die.
Kamiko surveyed her virtual audience. She let that sink in for a moment.
Kamiko Akiyama: these are not normal circumstance and we are no longer normal people. We have the Maggi. That gives us options.
She let that sink in for a few seconds more..
Kamiko Akiyama: The Maggi have devised a method by which we can leave.
Gloria Smith: Move? Everything we own is here on Flint Island. Everything we’ve worked for, for decades. Many of the children know nothing else. How can we move?
Kamiko Akiyama: We take the Island with us.
