I will begin by quoting a famous saying; "Soldiers at war fight not because they hate what they see in front of them, but they fight because of the love they have for what they left behind. In order to return to their love ones, they must lover the defences they created to protect them".

Reading this particular quote over and over, there is no better interpretation than to say one have to first of all be afraid in order to be courageous. This go a long way to say that as a human being who is living a life, we are afraid of so many things in our day to day lives. If not afraid of anything but at least we should be afraid of life itself which comes with a bundle of its own fears once you are one of its candidate.

Looking at this quote again, I would say fear and courage are two sides of the same coin that is no fear, no courage. Since it stands out clear that courage is not the absence of fear but requires fear. Even as a child, one has carried out some courageous actions (most of which were initiated by fear) at some points without at times not being aware of it. Courage in children also can be triggered by thrill and adventure, this being the climax of our lives.

Indeed this single quote offers a lot and it stands out to me as one of the most prominent writings ever. With my little knowledge so far in life, including some research and experience, I will then define and expatiate on Fear and Courage

What then is courage and fear?

Fear is an unpleasant emotion/feeling caused by the threat of harm, pain or danger, while Courage is the behaviour one uses to approach fear, that is what is required when you are afraid and there is no physical danger. For courage to come, you need to be afraid, and then with you step out with your heart beat rising, when you feel something is more important than fear and taking a bold step which might not be important to anyone to face the fear.

Sometimes courage leads to bravery (that willingness to act in spite of fear comes into you). Because a brave person is one who is able to overcome his fears in the presence of real threat that poses any physical danger. It takes only courage to realise the presence of fear in you bravery to embrace that fear.

Fear has that frightening force, just by itself being able to intimidate us. It stops many in their race, making them incapable of reacting due to fear of consequences, what people will say and fear of loss. It takes only courage to move forward, confronting what so ever is on your path even if it means risking your own life. Look your fears in the face and you will live a happy life.

Fear is a natural feeling that comes to each and everyone of us. Just being alive you have felt it at certain instances. So someone who has courage has fear too. If you never knew then after reading this post you will realise that fear plays a prominent role in our lives and from now henceforth you should be aware that life itself generates constant fear through its opportunities. Only courage make you welcome these opportunities and make something out of life and see that truly it is worth living. Forget your fears, have courage, be brave and be that thing when it matters most.

Most of us are where we our today because of lack of courage to overcome our fears. What matters most is you are alive and is never too late, step up develop a courageous attitude and the doors will open in one way or the other.

Thanks for making out time to read this post. On my next posts I will talk on the different kinds of fears and why not, a way to develop courage and overcome them. Have a wonderful time.

A very thoughtful read, @ernestapondo! Nice one. :)
What I get from that quote is that one can give in to fear in the presence of threat. But if that fear is for someone else, someone you love and care about, even the weakest person can gather the courage to overcome that fear.

That's it. If we decide to come out of our Shells and face our fears the world would be a better place

Wonderful and educative write up that let us know that without fear, courage won't be and that courage and fear are two sides of the same dice.
