Short story: Cino, Baby - The adventures of Bradley the baby barista from MelbournesteemCreated with Sketch.

in #writing7 years ago (edited)

Bradley was a baby barista who hailed from Melbourne town.

A baby cino used to satisfy. But these days, Bradley has his work cut out.

“Marshmallows are so yesterday” his infant customers would sigh.
“Froth is soooo 2016.”
“Chocolate sprinkles. Talk to the hand.”

To keep them happy, Bradley dished out coconut coffee cups filled with fried tulip buds. He sourced milk from Maltese milk maids. He sprinkled his creations with Matcha essence à la sun kissed four-leaf clovers.

But it wasn’t enough.

“Have you got anything new?” His baby customers kept asking.

One day he declared “Enough is enough!” Bradley stuck his dummy in his mouth and put the closed sign on the door.

Days and nights passed as Bradley worked away in his coffee laboratory, determined to create the most amazing coffee the world had ever seen. A coffee that was so good it would put an end to the elaborate requests.

The next day, he reopened his coffee shop, and unveiled his creation. He called it ‘Instant’.

“Just add water, no barrister required. A cup, a kettle and a teaspoon is all you need!” announced the packaging on the can.

The babies looked at Instant and gasped.

“It’s perfect” they exclaimed
“Who would have thought!” they remarked
“Where can I get it?” they asked.

Bradley concluded that Instant was a hit.

The babies were finally happy, and arguably much better off financially from his invention.

Bradley had enough orders for Instant to keep him in diapers for years. But despite his success, a thought was bubbling up inside him. He was ready for a new challenge, a new career.

“Indoor plants! That’s it!” Bradley thought.

The next day, Bradley the Barista transformed himself into Bradley the Air Plant Extraordinaire and started his next adventure.

Stay tuned :)
